Tui Na (Tuina)
Tui Na (pronounced ‘twee-nah’), an ancient Chinese form of massage, is commonly used in conjunction with acupuncture.
Tui Na means to push and to grasp. It is commonly applied over loose clothing and uses techniques to stimulate acupuncture points or other parts of the body surface so as to strengthen the meridians, clear blockages and release pain. The techniques include acupressure where practitioners use finger pressure instead of needles to stimulate the acupuncture points.
Tui Na plays a role in rehabilitation and promotes the health of muscles, ligaments and tendons and benefits nerve regulation.
